Green Delivery Service, Inc. Current Green Office projected timeline... 2009 - Planning PhaseThroughout 2008, we have been accumulating green office design ideas, both through research and our own original concepts to meet our specific business needs. We don't use a huge amount of office space so originally the thought was that we would design only for the space that we need, with the plan of purchasing an appropriately sized single unit in the shell stage and then applying our improvements to the remainder of the buildout. Then we realized that what we really need to do is design the entire building from the ground up, if we are to be able to take full advantage of all of the available resources. For this reason, we are revising our plan and will seek partners in 2009 with whom we can collaborate to construct, and occupy a true "green" building right here in Maryland. As we enter the planning phase, we will post details of our plans here on this page. At this point our plans may include sustainable siting, solar PV solar thermal and wind electric, passive solar water heating with point-of-use backups only, passive solar cooling, geo-thermal heat pumps, solar-tube and other day-lighting, ultra-high performance insulation, high-capacity energy storage, smart HVAC control, green-roofing, passive outdoor-air refrigeration, siting of deciduous vegetation, thermal mass structural elements, low-e coated glass, white-LED lighting, active control systems, and many others too numerous to list here. That is not to say that all of our concepts will make it into the final design; obviously not all of them will, but we have a great starting point and a goal of a zero-net energy building, perhaps even a negative net with the building returning power to the grid in certain conditions. 2010 - Begin Construction[...more coming soon]Additional Green Building ResourcesGreen Building (General)
